Jenny Chui Head of Human Resources

Jenny leads My Drum School’s people function, responsible for attracting, developing, engaging, retaining, and delighting our talent. As one of MDS’s most senior educators, Jenny Chui has helped shaped the faculty and growth of our Drum Programme since 2009. Jenny develops and implements strategies which aim to ensure the school has the right people, well positioned, to achieve the organisation’s business ambitions.

Pioneering the first batch of educators, she worked together with our Founder, James Pang, to grow the company in its initial stage. Completing her summer program with the Los Angeles Music Academy (LAMA) in 2013, Jenny continues to inspire the next generation of drummers with her warm personality and cheerful nature.

With more than 16 years of drumming and teaching experience, the business graduate from Singapore Institute of Management had overseen MDS @ Lavender as Centre Manager from 2012 to 2016. Jenny’s extensive experience in Chinese music has allowed her to travel and perform throughout countries like Singapore, Malaysia and Taiwan. Her most recent 3-day gig was at Stream of Grace Ge Tai 2016.

Joel Seah Centre Manager

His “never give up” approach to learning has led him to obtain his Associate Diploma in Drums (Honors) recently in July 2016.  As one of the most popular educators here, his patient nature has proven many a times to be beneficial for his students.

Graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Finance from University College Dublin, Joel oversees the operations in MDS @ Ang Mo Kio as Centre Manager. Joel is also the acting Senior Centre Manager at MDS, taking up additional administrative roles on top of his hefty teaching schedule.

Benjamin Ong Centre Manager

“Gotta have groove and quality!” This is what Benjamin strives for in his drumming and teaching his students. He started playing drums in his church at age 15. Over the years of playing both in church and occasional outside events, he managed to hone his craft and realised the number 1 priority of a drummer in a band is to keep time and groove.

Benjamin believes drumming is more than just an outward limbs movement – but also an inner expression of self-confidence and emotions. How one feels and thinks, affects his playing. Hence, he always aims to build a close rapport with his students, in order to develop their ‘inner-self’ and playing skills.

Having been in engineering sales for 4 years after university graduation, Benjamin decided to take the ‘road less travelled’ – to convert his passion for drumming and teaching to a full-time career with My Drum School Pte Ltd.  During his free time, he would rollerblade and food-hunt. Benjamin holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering from National University of Singapore. Benjamin leads the team at MDS @ Katong as Centre Manager.
