Accor Services [Project Drumming]

23 September, 2009 @ My Drum School

My Drum School (MDS) was pleased to host a group of professionals from Accor Services last month. It was our first corporate setting and it was an eventful start. The senior management team consisted of 8 professionals from different culture; Australian,
Chinese, Indian, French, Turkish. Our task was to bring the whole team together in unity through fun filled drumming! We recorded 2 tracks at the end of the session with the help of a professional engineer. There was no holding back, they did really well.

Here is a HD video produced by Moomedia for the event.

"All the Team members have expressed that this was a creative and moving experience. We were all surprised to discover "the muscle memory" and the difference between listening and hearing. But overall, as in many other group therapies, drumming not only helped us see that teaming is important and as a team we can produce, but also we can function better when we put our soul to it.

Considering the challenging environment and a training that depends on “managing the others talent” you are a good trainer. Your presentation on the notes made it simple for people who have never had the chance to learn notes. You have a pretty good patience level too which is an important arsenal all trainers should possess… We now have a greater appreciation and respect for drumming after watching your last performance!

Again thank you and to all your team members."

Singapore Food Festival 2009

25 - 26 July, 2009 @ Clarke Quay, Central Fountain

My Drum School (MDS) was invited to showcase our drumming at the prestigious Singapore Food Festival 2009. Around 250,000 people attended the event during those 2 weeks. It was our biggest outdoor performance thus far. We did Funk, Hip-Hop and Samba pieces; improvising and solo-ing along.

The performers for the nights were James Pang, William Loke, Shannon Ang, Bai Jiaxing, Jenny Chui, and our dear bassist, Manson Koh.

We captured parts of the event on HD Video:

"It was a great honor to be invited to the SFF 2009. In fact, I heard from the organisers that we were the only music school that managed to perform those nights due to technical difficulties. A big thanks to those who came to support!"

James Pang - Founder of My Drum School

MDS Official Opening

31 May, 2009 @ My Drum School

On 31 May 2009, My Drum School (MDS) was pleased to host a lively open house to mark the official opening of its new premises. It was indeed a celebration of the rapid growth of MDS from scratch in a small private studio to close to 200 students in just two short years. This beautiful new place is a testimony of the growing presence of MDS for the community of drummers in Singapore.

The majority of the attendees were students, educators, relatives and acquaintances of the school. The opening of our 850 square feet new premises was an animated evening of food, beverage, short performances and bonding. It was a great time of networking and relationship building, as well as showing our appreciation to our members and supporters.

The Sunday event was indeed well attended as even our relatively spacious new office was packed. We had a few short performances by the staff and friends of MDS. Many guests queued up to have a go at the drums! The children also occupied and hogged the kids' studio for a few hours. Drumming along with music videos, the crowd was entertained that day with rhythm and beat.

My Drum School would like to extend thanks to all who had contributed to the success of the school, including: Mapex Drums, Zildjian Cymbals, Yamaha Music (Asia) Pte Ltd, Konzept Studio, Creator’s Music, MooMedia and most importantly to God for His blessings.
