ANZCA Exams

30 June & 1 July, 2010 @ My Drum School

We enrolled for the Australian & New Zealand Cultural Arts ("ANZCA") drum examinations in June/July. Throughout these two days, 48 students took the Grades 1 to 4 examinations. Mark Murphy, A.Dip.A from Australia, was the external examiner for the 25 minute exam. Students had to play at least 3 short drum solos, technical rudiments, aural testing, sight reading and general knowledge.

We are proud to announce that we have achieved 23 First Class Honors, 23 Honors, 1 Credit and 1 Pass. There were zero failures and we were commended for having a high standard of professionalism and comparable to the top music schools in Australia.

Here is a video about Mark Murphy's comments:

He wanted
learn how to read music within 6 weeks of intensive drum training at MDS.

His task was to complete:
- a 3 hour practice every day for 6 weeks
- a recording of the song "Everywhere That I Go"
- learning and performing a 48-bar drum solo duet
- and document his practice process

MDS on Channel Suria

February, 2010 @ Suria Channel

Early this year, we sponsered a child some drum lessons to fulfil his childhood dream of becoming a drummer. His family was struggling to make ends meet and could not afford to send him for drum lessons. So... we stepped in.

We were delighted that we could be a blessing to others and bring joy to their lives.

As we watch the video, let's remember the less priviledged amongst us:
